A crane lifts construction materials to the roof of Hodges Library

A crane lifts construction materials to the roof of Hodges LibraryCrew members from UT Facilities Services and Anderson Lumber Company worked tirelessly into the night last weekend to finish lifting construction materials onto the roof of the John C. Hodges Library.

It took a total of twenty-one hours, from 5:00 a.m. Saturday to 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Approximately 180,000 square feet of materials, or fifteen semi-truck loads, were lifted to the roof by two cranes at the site. Sections of Volunteer Boulevard and Melrose Avenue were closed for several hours Saturday to facilitate the project.

Now that the materials are in place, the reroofing project is slated to start in October. It is scheduled to last ninety working days. Hodges Library will remain open during the construction.
