UT students can now call or go online to order tickets to the Clarence Brown Theatre rather than stand in line at the box office.

The Clarence Brown Theatre has partnered with the Division of Student Life and the VolCard Office, as well as KnoxvilleTickets.com and ticketing provider Paciolan, to make this possible.

“A special UT student portal has been set up so that UT students can order tickets from wherever they are, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week,” said Roger Hoover, CBT box office manager.

UT students can reach the student portal at clarencebrowntheatre.com/students.

“Students also may order tickets by calling 865-974-5161 and providing their student ID number. Of course they may still obtain tickets from the CBT Box Office or the Central Ticket Office in person,” Hoover said.

UT students are eligible to purchase one discounted ticket to each of the eight CBT productions. Additional tickets can be purchased at regular adult and nonstudent prices.

For events on the CBT Mainstage, students purchasing through the online portal can use the system’s “pick your own seats” feature to coordinate reserved seating and sit together. Seating is not reserved in the Carousel and Lab Theatres.

UT has negotiated a special service charge of 75 cents for UT student-priced tickets purchased online. All other tickets will be assessed standard service charges. Students purchasing over the phone will be assessed standard service charges too. There is no service charge for tickets purchased in person.

UT student ticket prices for CBT shows are free for preview, $10 for opening night, and $5 for all other performances.

With a dual mission to train the next generation of theater artists and to provide top quality professional theater, the Clarence Brown Theatre is one of only twelve academic LORT (League of Resident Theatre) institutions in the nation. Under the artistic direction of Calvin MacLean, the CBT season runs from August through May and features eight productions ranging from musicals to drama. The 2013–2014 season includes Noises Off, Our Country’s Good, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, A Christmas Carol, The Whipping Man, The Trip to Bountiful, Wrens, and Spamalot.

For more information or tickets, call the CBT Box Office at 865-974-5161 or visit the website.
