Ferlin G. McGaskey is the new assistant director of the Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center (TennTLC). He co-designed and directs of the center’s Graduate Teaching Certification Program.

McGaskey has spent the past four years working in teaching and learning centers at UT and the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a master’s degree in economics and a Ph.D. in higher education administration, both from UT.

His primary interest as a faculty
developer is centered on graduate students as teachers and emerging scholars. McGaskey’s research interests include the academic, personal, and professional experiences of graduate students with a particular focus on international students and students of color. He has been directly involved in writing and securing national research grants.

McGaskey is a Southern Regional Education Board Scholar and is a member of the American Educational Research Association, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the Association of Institutional Research.
