In an effort to provide better assistance to faculty, staff, and students traveling abroad on UT business, the university has contracted with International SOS, the world’s leading medical and travel security services company.

International SOS can provide travelers with predeparture advice assistance abroad twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In emergencies, the company can assist in arranging medical care and evacuation.

Starting on October 1, faculty and staff traveling internationally on UT business will be asked to register their planned travels—destination, travel dates, contact information, etc.—on the Center for International Education’s website. Non–study abroad students are already registering their international travel through the CIE website and will continue the same process used by faculty and staff. Study abroad students are automatically registered as part of their standard study abroad application. The existing emergency protocols for study abroad students remain in place, but International SOS may provide some additional support.

Anyone anticipating traveling internationally should plan to attend one of three one-hour information sessions offered today (Thursday, August 15) with representatives of International SOS in Stokely Management Center Room G2. Three one-hour sessions will be offered, at 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

No preregistration is required.
