KNOXVILLE — Potential law school applicants are invited to attend the Law School Admission Workshop and Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

“In a competitive admissions environment in which most communication is electronic, it is great for prospective law students to be able to meet face to face with decision makers from top schools in our region,” said Karen R. Britton, director of admissions, financial aid and the Bettye B. Lewis Career Center at UT’s College of Law. “Anyone who is considering law as a career and is specifically interested in the law school admissions process should attend this event.”

The workshop is free and no preregistration is necessary. Scheduled activities include:

Admission Workshop. Panelists will discuss preparing for law school as an undergraduate, the law school admission process and the LSAT from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Shiloh Room of the University Center. Britton will lead this session along with Catherine Anderson, assistant director of the College of Arts & Sciences advising services.

Q & A with Admissions Officers. Prospective students are invited to discuss the admissions process and seek advice from a panel of admissions officers from public and private law schools from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Shiloh Room of the University Center.

Recruitment Fair. Admissions representatives from law schools in the Southeast will meet with prospective students. Law schools invited include Alabama, Baylor, Charleston, Cumberland, Georgia, Georgia State, Indiana, Kentucky, Lincoln Memorial University, Louisiana State University, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi College, Nashville School of Law, Richmond, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Washington & Lee. The Recruitment Fair will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the College of Law Commons and Rotunda.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about applying to law school. Participants always comment on how much they learn from the firsthand advice provided by admissions representatives, as well as from questions posed by other prospective students,” Britton said.

The UT College of Law is located at 1505 W. Cumberland Ave., directly across the street from the University Center. Parking is available for a fee in the University Center Garage behind the University Center on Phillip Fulmer Way.

This program is sponsored by the UT College of Law, UT College of Arts & Sciences advising services, UT Career Services and the UT Phi Alpha Delta Pre-law Society.
