KNOXVILLE — The College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host a career fair Monday, Nov. 5, through Thursday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. each day in the atrium of the Art + Architecture Building.

This is the first time the college has organized such an event.

The college has had a well-established spring recruitment event which focuses primarily on graduating seniors for the past 15 years.

Many architecture and design firms throughout Tennessee, however, have expressed interest in visiting the college to meet students before the spring recruiting season.

This career fair provides these firms the opportunity to have as much exposure as possible to students of all levels in the college early on in the academic year.

Representatives from approximately 20 firms will visit the college to speak to students about opportunities within their companies. Each firm will have a booth in the building for up to two of the four days of the career fair.

“This career fair is mutually beneficial for students and firms,” said Carol Martin, development director for the college. “Students get more time to explore what opportunities are out there and find a better fit for their career aspirations. Firms get a chance to meet the future generations of architects and interior designers before they really begin the job-hunting process.”

Participating firms from the Knoxville area include ACHW Architects, Barber McMurry Architects, BWSC Architects Design Innovation, Gresham Smith & Partners and KBJM Architects. Several firms from Nashville, Memphis and the Tri-Cities also will be present.
