KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee Facilities Services personnel anticipate restoring power by the late afternoon or early evening today and reopening Andy Holt Apartment Residence Hall.

Further testing identified a circuit cabling problem that is now being repaired. Once the power is restored, the building should heat up within a few hours, according to Jeff Maples, senior vice chancellor for finance and administration.

“We appreciate all of our students’ patience throughout the past two days. Special thanks to the many electrical professionals who assisted with the repair, as well as housing, facilities, dining services, athletic department concessions, police and other students and staff who addressed the challenges and helped to make the best out of a difficult situation,” Maples said.

All Apartment Residence Hall students who are not on the campus meal plan will receive a complimentary meal tonight at Presidential Courtyard, Morrill Hall or Sophie’s Cafeteria. All affected students will receive $20 on their student identification cards to use at any dining location or convenience store on campus.

The Student Aquatic Center and the T-RECS facilities are scheduled to reopen at their regular hours of operation tomorrow.
