KNOXVILLE — Members of the University of Tennessee campus and the Knoxville community are invited to an open community forum tonight with the new UT President, Dr. John Shumaker.

The forum is scheduled for 6-7 p.m.(EST) in the University Center Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Dr. Shumaker will be accompanied by his wife, Lucy, Gov. Don Sundquist, and Interim President Eli Fly. Fly, Sundquist, and Dr. Shumaker will make remarks and answer questions from the audience.

The parking garage adjacent to the Center will be reserved for those attending the forum.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the campus community to meet President Shumaker,” Dr. Loren W. Crabtree, UT Vice President and Provost, said.

“I encourage everyone to attend. However, for those who can’t be present, arrangements have been made for a live Webcast.”

UT’s Board of Trustees, meeting at the Capitol, unanimously approved the recommendation Monday of its 10-member Search Committee naming Shumaker as UT’s 21st chief executive officer.

Shumaker comes to UT after serving as president at the University of Louisville since 1995.
