Keep Your Belongings Safe During Winter Break

Activity on campus is slowing down as the semester concludes and most residents head home for the break. With fewer people around, opportunities for theft may increase. Whether you stay in Knoxville or travel home, keep these safety tips in mind.

Head to WUTK Exam Jam XI Concert Tomorrow

WUTK will host Exam Jam XI at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Concourse, 940 Blackstock Avenue. Hear live performances from Handsome and the Humbles, Senryu, Hellaphant, and Enigmatic Foe. A $5 donation to the WUTK Gift Fund gets you in the door.


Have You Checked Out Guardian through the UT App?

The UT app added a new feature this semester, Guardian, to enhance your safety and improve two-way communication with UTPD. Create a virtual safety network of friends or family members using a safety timer that allows your selected “guardian” to look out for you when you’re traveling between destinations or to unfamiliar settings. You can also share anonymous tips or call UTPD for immediate help. Learn more about Guardian features and steps to set up your account.


Search for Undergraduate Research Opportunities in New Database

Search for faculty by academic department, view available on-campus research positions, and discover off-campus research opportunities through UT’s database of undergraduate research opportunities, EXPLORE. New opportunities will be added throughout the year, so plan to check the database frequently for new postings.



Learn New Skills During Winter Break with Lynda

While you’re home relaxing, remember that your UT subscription to offers many tutorials that can help you manage your school and personal life. Topics include business skills, photography, design, music and video, animation, and web design. Read OIT’s recommendations of tutorials to check out while you are on break.
