Participate in "Giving Tuesday" on VOLstarter

For twenty-four years, UT advertising students have traveled to New York City to get a firsthand look at ad agencies and the opportunities available in the advertising field. Students who went on this year's trip got a helping hand from donors via the VOLstarter crowdsourcing site. On December 1, also known as Giving Tuesday, UT is encouraging alumni and other donors to support VOLstarter projects like the advertising trip. Read more...

Group Works to Enhance Instructional Accessibility Goals

The UT System recently adopted a policy that reiterates its commitment to providing and supporting a teaching and learning environment that is accessible to all. The policy requires that all campuses and institutes provide information, materials, and technology that are accessible to individuals with disabilities, including those who use assistive technologies. Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek has charged a team of faculty, staff, and students to develop a strategy to exceed policy requirements and further the Knoxville campus’s accessibility goals. Read more...

Professor to Discuss New Alex Haley Biography

A UT historian will present his new biography of Alex Haley, an acclaimed American author, Wednesday, December 2. Robert "Jeff" Norrell will discuss his biography Alex Haley and the Books That Changed a Nation, at a 6:00 p.m. presentation at the East Tennessee Historical Society, 601 South Gay Street. Final LMS Demonstration is December 2

Brightspace Desire2Learn will present its learning management system demonstration in two sessions at 8:30–10:00 a.m. and 1:30–3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in Room 213, Hodges Library. Recordings of the Blackboard and Instructure Canvas demonstrations are available online. Given that the LMS affects almost all faculty and students, OIT asks that members of the campus community attend the demonstrations, ask questions, and provide feedback via the online feedback form. Media Relations Team Seeking Stories about Graduating Students

The Media Relations team is looking for stories about interesting students graduating in December to feature in Tennessee Today and to promote to the media. Possible stories might include students who overcame hardships to complete their studies at UT, siblings or family members graduating together, students who spearheaded community service projects, or students who have some other sort of compelling personal stories to share. WUTK to Hold Seasonal Fundraiser Exam Jam XI

WUTK 90.3 The Rock will hold the station’s seasonal fundraiser, Exam Jam XI, at 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, at The Concourse at the International. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit WUTK Gift Fund, helping to keep the self-supporting broadcast lab and station on the air. Read more...
