Beverly Davenport Named UT Knoxville Chancellor
Beverly J. Davenport has been selected by UT President Joe DiPietro to serve as the eighth chancellor of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. DiPietro will recommend Davenport's appointment to the UT Board of Trustees in a special meeting December 15 in Nashville. Pending board approval, Davenport will join UT Knoxville on March 1, 2017. UT Expert: Holiday Shoppers Will Spend More, Enjoy Online and In-Store Perks
Online shopping, personalized in-store shopping experiences, and self-gifting will dominate the 2016 holiday shopping season, according to Ann Fairhurst, professor and head of the Department of Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Management. "Consumers are taking a well-rounded approach to holiday shopping this year," she said. "They'll be shopping online and via apps on their mobile devices as well as in-store." Read more...

GeoAir Wins Fall 2016 Vol Court Pitch Competition

GeoAir, a startup company founded by MBA candidate Alex Adams, won top prize at last week's fall 2016 Vol Court Pitch Competition. The company beat 18 competitors to take first place at the competition, which was hosted by the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. GeoAir gives a faster, more precise way to identify mold in fields by using a drone to take airborne samples of the field. Read more...

UT's Kaplan Travels to Amsterdam for 400th Anniversary of Ets Haim Library
Ets Haim library—the oldest Jewish library in the world—will celebrate its 400th anniversary with a symposium on November 24. Gregory Kaplan, Distinguished Professor in the Humanities and a professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures, will be among those attending this historic event in Amsterdam.
