Big Orange Give Set to Raise $1 Million in Five Days November 14–18
This year’s Big Orange Give—a five-day social-media-based giving campaign for UT—kicks off today and runs through Friday. This year we again want to raise more than a million dollars. If Vol Nation can raise $500,000, the First Tennessee Foundation will match with $500,000 to help us get to the $1 million goal, said Lauren Herbstritt, UT's director of new media fundraising for annual giving. New End-of-Course Evaluations to Launch this Fall

The new end-of-course evaluation system opened today and will remain open through December 2. The year's new survey includes 14 core questions—eight to be answered with a 5-to-1 ranking, two open-ended, and four multiple-choice questions. Read more...

Local Media Feature 103-year-old Alumna on Campus
Joyce Weaver Fowler, a 103-year-old UT alumna, was welcomed back to campus by the Office of Alumni Affairs during Homecoming week. She graduated from UT in 1933 with a degree in education and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Many local news stations covered her visit, including WATE, WBIR, WVLT, and the Daily Beacon. TRECS Lower Level Closure During Winter Break
The RecSports department will be installing a new floor in the TRECS Fitness Center area starting December 8 through the Winter Break. During this time the lower level of the TRECS will be closed. 2016 Chancellor’s Excellence in Advising and Mentoring Award

The Chancellor’s Excellence in Advising and Mentoring Award is now accepting nominations for 2016. The chancellor's award recognizes advisors who are highly committed to the advising and mentoring of students. The nominee should be an individual who has excelled in their advising responsibilities for a minimum of three years. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15. Read more...

It's Not a Bird! It's Not a Plane! It's the Fastest Flying Mammal, Says UT Study
A new study from UT shows that the Brazilian free-tailed bat can achieve flight speeds that are faster than those previously documented for any bat or bird, achieving short bursts of ground speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. The research was published last week in the journal Royal Society Open Science. Read more...
