FLSA Workshops Announced for Employees and Supervisors
To prepare for the upcoming deadline to implement changes to the US Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations, UT Human Resources is offering workshops for impacted employees and their supervisors. UT Human Resources has been working closely with departments and units across campus to implement changes required by federal law. The law requires that employees who earn less than $47,476 be converted to nonexempt status on December 1. Read more...

Homecoming Week Begins October 30; Celebration Marks 100th Anniversary

Faculty and Staff Present, Receive Award at Engagement Scholarship Conference
Five faculty and staff members shared the impact of UT's work on various communities during a national engagement conference in Omaha, Nebraska, earlier this month. UT also received a national award that recognized a project designed to improve the wellness and disaster readiness of an Appalachian community in Clay County, Kentucky. Read more...

Office Story: Sue Hamilton's Office Shows How Her Garden Grows
Sue Hamilton, director of the UT Gardens, takes us inside her office in the Environmental Landscape Laboratory. She's filled the space with plants, antique gardening tools, and botanical artworks and trinkets. "My office pretty much reflects that I’m a plant nerd and geek. My hobby is my vocation," she said. NASA Astrophysics Director to Talk about Team Building

Former NASA astrophysics director and UT alumnus Frank Martin will deliver a keynote address about team building at the UT Teaching and Learning Innovation Symposium on Wednesday, November 2. Martin is now a NASA consultant with a focus on humans in space, as well as a consultant on team development. He received his doctorate in physics from UT in 1971. Read more...
