Board Votes to Name the John D. Tickle College of Engineering
The UT Board of Trustees voted to name the College of Engineering for distinguished alumnus John D. Tickle. It marks the second time in the campus’s 222-year history that a college has been named for an alumnus and benefactor. Tickle, a 1965 industrial engineering graduate from Bristol, Tennessee, is chairman of the Strongwell Corporation. Read more...

UT Board of Trustees Approve Four for Honorary Degrees

The UT Board of Trustees approved a proposal Friday to award four honorary doctoral degrees—three from UT Knoxville and one from the Institute of Agriculture. The recipients of the honorary degrees are Harrison H. "Jack" Schmitt, Kenneth W. Lowe, Philip Bredesen, and James Herbert. Read more...

Board of Trustees Meeting Roundup

The UT Board of Trustees approved the limited duration appointment of Tonja Johnson as chief operating officer and executive vice president, effective immediately. The board also approved $106 million in renovations to Neyland Stadium and appointed Keith Carver as UT Martin Chancellor, among many other decisions. Read more...

Knoxville Horror Fest Creators and UT Alums Give List of Six Best Scary Flicks

Two UT alumni are bringing a celebration of sinister cinema to East Tennessee with the eighth annual Knoxville Horror Fest October 21–23. The three-day event—organized by William Mahaffey and Nick Huinker, 2005 graduates and former UT cinema studies students—will showcase 10 independent horror features and numerous eerie shorts from around the world.
