SEC Awards UT Faculty Travel Funds
Nine UT professors have received funding for travel to other Southeastern Conference universities for this academic year. Now in its fifth year, the grant program provides support for selected faculty to collaborate with colleagues at other SEC institutions. The faculty members from UT that received funding are Shelley Binder, Stuart Brotman, Jerzy Dydak, Patrick Grzanka, Katie Johnson, Alexander Lapins, Bertin Louis, Ron Taylor, and Xiaopeng Zhao. Science Forum: Jay Clark to Discuss the Bears of the Smokies on October 14

Jay Clark will present “Bears of the Smokies” at the Science Forum on Friday. His talk will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Thompson-Boling Arena Café, Rooms C-D. Clark’s presentation will summarize the research conducted by UT, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and the National Park Service about the Great Smoky Mountains’ black bear population. It will also explain how this information is critical to biologists charged with protecting and managing the bear population in the park and surrounding mountains. Read more...
