Department of Energy Honors Andrea Rocha
The accolades continue to roll in for Andrea Rocha, a postdoctoral research fellow on the team of UT-Oak Ridge National Laboratory Governor's Chair Terry Hazen. Rocha was selected by the US Department of Energy for its "Women@Energy" series, detailing inspirational women in STEM fields and highlighting what inspired them to pursue their careers. Read more...

Hines is Quest Scholar of the Week
Wes Hines, Postelle Professor and head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering, was recently elected fellow of the American Nuclear Society. The honor comes in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in nuclear science or nuclear engineering. Quest, the campus's comprehensive research initiative, has selected Hines as its Scholar of the Week. Read more...

Team Receives Grant to Address Deadly Bat Disease

A UT team has received a federal grant to help combat a deadly disease affecting bats. The grant will be used to explore how the fungus that causes white-nose syndrome affects Southeastern bats during hibernation. Read more...

Science Forum: Did Age of Dinosaurs Really End?

Colin Sumrall, assistant professor of earth and planetary sciences, will look at the transformation of a lineage of small carnivorous dinosaurs into birds and show why we are still living in the age of the dinosaurs. His Science Forum talk, "The Origin of Birds: Did the Age of Dinosaurs Really End?" will be held at noon on Friday, October 9, in Room C-D of Thompson-Boling Arena. Read more...
