From the Dominican Republic to UT, Peace Corps Volunteer Seeks to Help

Registered nurse Laura Elzey has always had a passion for helping others in underserved communities. Armed with her knowledge of health care and the Spanish language, Elzey spent two years in the Dominican Republic as a Peace Corps volunteer before enrolling at UT this fall. Elzey joined the Family Nurse Practitioner MSN program through the Peace Corps’ national Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program. Read more...

'Do What You Can' Service Day to Aid Baton Rouge Residents
Participating in service projects can help communities prepare for emergencies by raising awareness of the threats an area might face and establishing support networks that can help first responders in emergency situations. The Center for Leadership and Service is dedicating September’s "Do What You Can" monthly service series to 9/11 Remembrance Day with a focus on helping the people of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Talk with Insurance Experts at Fall Benefits Fair
Faculty and staff are invited to attend a benefits fair from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in Thompson-Boling Arena to learn about the insurances, benefits, and corporate discounts that make up UT's benefits package. The state of Tennessee's annual enrollment period begins Monday, October 3. Walgreens will be offering free flu shots to employees enrolled in the state's health insurance plans who bring a copy of their Caremark prescription card.
