UT Prepares for Thursday Night Kickoff to 2016 Volunteer Football Season
UT is welcoming Vol fans and visitors to Rocky Top on Thursday, September 1, for a rare midweek start to the Volunteers' football season. The Vols will face the Mountaineers of Appalachian State University at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The weekday start means fans should leave early and expect traffic to be heavier than normal. Updates Made to Campus Sexual Assault Policy

UT is committed to creating and sustaining a living, learning, and working environment that is free from sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation. With feedback from faculty, staff, and students, improvements have been made to our policy. In addition to those improvements, the university has committed $700,000 in additional recurring funds to add staff in the Office of Equity and Diversity, the Center for Health Education and Wellness, and UT Athletics; fund training; and cover other costs associated with preventing all forms of sexual misconduct and raising awareness about this issue. Tennessee Olympians: Christian Coleman, Track and Field
Christian Coleman, a current student, enjoyed a spectacular 2016 sophomore season at Tennessee. He was named an Indoor Track and Field First-Team All-American for the 60-meter, 200-meter, and 4x400-meter relay and captured the 200-meter national title. Coleman competes in the 4x100-meter relay qualifying at 10:40 a.m. Thursday. Read more...

Culinary Students Put Skills on Display at Event

Students in UT's Culinary Program will be carving ice sculptures for the first time from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the UT Conference Center. Students will prepare and serve appetizers including goat cheese crisps with mushroom ragout, prosciutto-wrapped melon balls with mozzarella, leek and red pepper mini quiches, and deep-fried wontons with creamy curried chicken. From professional certificates to fun weekend outings, UT's Non-Credit Programs offer a world of affordable and convenient career training, educational, and leisure activities. New course topics this semester include Krav Maga fitness training, human resources certification, health and nutrition, furniture refinishing, and social media. Smoky Mountain Field School offers a range of courses on the Smokies' history, unique culture, plants and animals, and wilderness orienteering. The fall 2016 course catalog is available online.
