Class of 2020: UT Welcomes More than 4,800 Freshmen to Volunteer Family
It’s another record-setting year at UT: With 4,825 incoming freshmen, the Class of 2020 is the largest in at least thirty years and marks the sixth consecutive year of freshman growth. This year’s freshmen have an average ACT score of 27 and an average high school GPA of 3.89. Forty-nine percent had high school GPAs over 4.0. Read more...

Tall or Short? Thick or Thin? Study Shows Many Factors Affect Arm, Leg Size
For over sixty years, scientists have theorized that a person's body shape and size could be influenced by the climate of where they live. Now a new study suggests there's more to the equation. The paper, co-authored by Kristen Savell, a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology, is among the first to document how evolutionary selection has shaped variation in human limbs across the globe. Student a Former Pokémon Card Game Champion
"When you find something you’re good at, stick with it." That’s the lesson UT senior Sam Liggett learned playing the Pokémon trading card game. Liggett, a senior majoring in supply chain management, is a Pokémon champion. The Memphis native fell in love with the old-fashioned card game as a twelve-year-old after visiting a local card shop.
