UT to Co-Host Candlelight Tribute at Odd Fellows Cemetery August 12
To commemorate Emancipation Day and honor the slavery-era men and women buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, the College of Architecture and Design and the Knoxville ReAnimation Coalition will co-host an Illumination Tribute at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, in the cemetery. Today and Wednesday, architecture students and university freshmen in the Center for Leadership and Service Ignite Serves program will build and fortify walkways throughout the cemetery. Read more...

Tennessee Olympians: Molly Hannis, Swimming and Diving
During her UT swimming career, Molly Hannis was a 14-time All-American and a four-time SEC champion. She remains the Vols' record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Hannis will compete in the 200-meter breaststroke at noon Wednesday. NBC is live-streaming events online. Read more...

Tennessee Olympians: Martina Moravcikova, Swimming and Diving
Martina Moravcikova swam for Tennessee from 2008 to 2011 and earned four All-America honors as a senior. At the 2012 London Games, she placed 26th in the 200 breaststroke. She is one of only two Tennessee women to swim in multiple Olympiads. She competes for the Czech Republic in the 200-meter breaststroke at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. NBC is live-streaming events online. Biodiversity Web Application Helps Map Species Locations

The College of Engineering, the School of Art, JICS and NIMBioS have partnered with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Inventory and Monitoring Branch to create a new web application, Species Mapper. The app uses locations where species have been found to help predict additional places they may occur in the park. These models are based on observations made during ongoing resource monitoring as well as research studies conducted by scientists from all over the world. Read more...
