New Facilities Services Complex Opens

Campus administrators and Facilities Services workers came together last week to celebrate the opening of the new Facilities Services Complex, a 91,000-square-foot building on Sutherland Avenue that now houses more than 200 of the department's employees after a two-year renovation and new construction project. Getting Around Campus During Move-In Week 2016

The university expects to welcome approximately 7,100 new and returning students to our residence halls this week for the fall semester and the beginning of classes on Wednesday, August 17. Campus construction and the City of Knoxville's upgrades to Cumberland Avenue will present some challenges as traffic increases over the next few weeks. Read more...

Campus Construction Projects Moving Forward
A new residence hall, White Hall, will open this week. Its twin, Orange Hall, will open later in the semester. The two buildings represent the first phase of university's west campus redevelopment project. The Volunteer Boulevard Garage opened today across from the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center. The six-level garage provides around 800 new parking spots for commuter students and 200 parking spots for faculty and staff, and will feature technology that provides real-time updates of vacant parking spaces. New Garage, Other Parking Changes on Campus
With another academic year beginning, Parking and Transit Services has made some changes to help accommodate student, faculty, and staff parking needs and make navigating campus construction easier. UT begins the fall semester offering around 800 new parking spots for commuters and 175 new spots for residential students. All faculty, staff, and students need a current UT parking permit to use campus lots. Read more...

Leadership Program Connects Students to Community
For more than fifteen years, Ignite has welcomed hundreds of incoming freshmen and transfer students each summer to jump-start their leadership journey through four programs—Ignite Leadership Summit, Ignite Outdoors, Ignite Serves, and Ignite Knox. The newest program, Ignite Knox, launched this summer as a four-day leadership and community engagement program focused on connecting incoming students with the Knoxville community. Read more...
