Students Fluent in Foreign Languages Land Impressive Internships

Xylina Marshall, who graduated in May, is honing her Italian skills by participating in the VoluntarItaly program in Northern Italy. Marshall is one of nine students from UT's Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures' Language and World Business program who are getting hands-on experience in business while applying their foreign language skills in internships this summer. Theriot Named Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
Matthew Theriot will begin serving as UT’s interim vice provost for faculty affairs on August 1. He also will continue to serve as associate provost for teaching and learning innovation. As interim vice provost, Theriot will oversee and facilitate processes related to faculty recruitment, retention, evaluation, promotion, and professional development. He also will lead campus efforts on faculty-related aspects of the Vol Vision 2020 Strategic Plan. Read more...

Athletic Department Announces Launch of AllVols.com
Tennessee Athletics is now using a new ticketing and donation software system. As a result of this change, AllVols.com is the new official website for fans to manage season tickets, make donations to the Tennessee Fund, purchase single-game tickets, and take advantage of other promotional opportunities and benefits through a single log-in experience. Harmon Shares Delegate Experience in News Sentinel

Mark Harmon, professor of journalism and electronic media and a former Knox County Commissioner, is writing a "Delegate Diary" for the News Sentinel from the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The four-day convention begins today at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Harmon was elected to attend as a delegate for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Read more...

Retiring Burdette Looks Back on His Fifty-Plus Years at UT

Ninety-plus Incoming Freshmen Hone Skills at Third Annual Math Camp
Classes don’t begin for several more weeks, but more than ninety incoming freshmen are getting a jump start on their math requirements. This is the third year that UT is hosting Math Camp, a three-week summer program designed to provide a thorough academic review of concepts from Math 119 and 130—two important prerequisites for math-intensive majors and other majors requiring certain math skills.
