Service Memorializes Students and Employees

At Tuesday's campus memorial service at UT Gardens, poet and English Professor Marilyn Kallet read a poem she wrote to memorialize the students, faculty, and staff who have died in the past year. Speakers read the names of each person as attendees lit candles before a moment of silence. The News Sentinel reported on the service. Read more...

Educators Hall of Honor Inducts Six New Members

Six educators were inducted into the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences’ Educators Hall of Honor Class of 2016 last week. Honorees are David Madden, alumnus, novelist, and Civil War historian; Bill McKee, alumnus and higher education administrator; David Northington, professor of piano; Elinor "Pat" Payne, alumna and music educator; Tom Rakes, alumnus and former chancellor of UT Martin; and Marianne Woodside, professor emeritus of counselor education. Tax season is in full swing and criminals are seizing the opportunity for scams. OIT is warning that scammers may offer seemingly legitimate "tax services" designed to steal your identity and your tax refund, sometimes with the lure of bigger write-offs or refunds. Scams may include mocked up websites and tax forms that look like they belong to the IRS to trick you into providing your personal information. Read more...
