Courtney Childers, associate professor of advertising and public relations, teaches a social media class and an advanced media strategy course. Her research focus is social media marketing to youth. Going the Extra Mile: College of Social Work Spotlights Orme, Rao
John Orme, pictured, has been a professor in UT’s College of Social Work since 1993 and his expertise in the area of foster care, specifically foster families, has garnered him national attention and accolades. Uma Rao, director of the Children's Mental Health Services Research Center, studies depressive and substance-related disorders that develop as adolescents become adults. She also looks at the physical and medical conditions, such as obesity and pain, that often accompany mood and addictive disorders. Read more...

Through visits with corporate leaders and international trips, Kelly Hewett, pictured, tries to prepare students for the world of work. An assistant professor of marketing, Hewett has split her career between the corporate world and academia. As a senior lecturer in the Department of Management, Kathy Coleman Wood provides her students with a unique blend of business experience, international perspective, and experiential learning. Journalism Professor Launches Philanthropic Documentary Brand

A UT journalism faculty member has launched a new project that will give students hands-on experience in documentary storytelling while providing no-cost video services for local nonprofit organizations. Archive Compiles Market Square and Downtown's Historical Images, Recordings
Liz Teston, assistant professor of interior design, wanted to preserve the design and culture of Knoxville online. Teston’s team created an archive bank for images, recordings, and transcriptions focused on Market Square and the downtown area. The web-based resource pulled together input from the Calvin H. McClung Historical Collection, International Interior Design Association, American Institute of Architects, and the UT Libraries. Read more...

Facilities Services Hosts Pest Control Workshop
Learn about methods to prevent pests such as mosquitos, spiders, ants, and bed bugs during "Facilities Fundamentals: Mosquito and Pest Control," a campus workshop hosted by Facilities Services.
