WUTK to Hold Seasonal Fundraiser Exam Jam XI

WUTK 90.3 The Rock will hold the station’s seasonal fundraiser, Exam Jam XI, at 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, at The Concourse at the International. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit WUTK Gift Fund, helping to keep the self-supporting broadcast lab and station on the air.

Public Writing Course Project Made a Difference in the Community

Students in one UT English class spent the semester learning a lot more than grammar and punctuation. This semester, English lecturer Erin Smith challenged her English 255 students to practice their public writing skills by running fund-raising campaigns for local charities. “I wanted my students to have an opportunity to learn the importance of their writing skills in the real world,” Smith said.

WUTK 90.3 FM is Most Improved College Radio Station in North America

WUTK 90.3 FM “The Rock,” UT Knoxville’s student-run modern rock radio station, was named as the station showing “Biggest Improvement” in the 2011 College Radio Awards, sponsored by the College Music Journal and held last weekend in New York City. This is the first CMJ award for WUTK, which won national recognition as the runner-up for “College Station of the Year” in the 2010 MTVU Woodie Awards.

UT Community Invited to Celebrate the Rock in its New Home on Aug. 18

A celebration of the Rock in its new site at Volunteer Boulevard and Pat Head Summitt Street is planned for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The celebration will include a live remote broadcast by WUTK 90.3 “The Rock” radio station and the opportunity to leave your mark on the Rock.
