Nelson Named Associate Vice Chancellor for Research

Janet Nelson has been named the new associate vice chancellor for research, focusing on research development, effective July 1. Nelson joins UT’s Office of Research and Engagement from her position as director of business development for the URS Corporation. She replaces Greg Reed, who has served as associate vice chancellor for research since 2007.

Taylor Eighmy, senior vice president for research at Texas Tech University, has been named vice chancellor for research and engagement for UT. Eighmy, 56, will begin October 2. He brings strong experience in growing research programs at Texas Tech University and the University of New Hampshire.

Vice Chancellor for Research Candidate Feedback Due Today

The three candidates for vice chancellor for research and engagement have now visited campus and held public forums. Those who attended or watched the forums are asked to submit their online feedback forms by 5:00 p.m. today. The three candidates are Daniel Reed, a corporate vice president at Microsoft; T. Taylor Eighmy, senior vice president for research at Texas Tech University; and Vistasp Karbhari, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Two Vice Chancellor for Research Candidates to Visit This Week

Two more candidates for vice chancellor for research visit campus this week, and both will lead public forums for the campus community. T. Taylor Eighmy, senior vice president for research at Texas Tech University, and Vistasp Karbhari, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, will speak and answer questions at a forums on Tuesday and Wednesday.

First Vice Chancellor for Research Candidate to Visit

The first of three candidates for vice chancellor for research visits campus later this week and will lead a public forum for the campus community on Friday, August 10. Daniel Reed, a corporate vice president at Microsoft, will speak and answer questions at a forum from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Haslam Business Building, Room 440. The forum will be web cast live and viewers will be able to submit questions and feedback online.
