Want to know more about the glass house on the Humanities Plaza? Called the UT Zero Energy House, it’s the headquarters for an interdisciplinary team’s preparations for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon 2011 competition. The UT community is invited to a celebration and kickoff for the team’s project entry into the competition and to learn more about the project from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 10, at the UT Zero Energy House on Humanities Plaza across from Circle Park.

Team Living Light, an interdisciplinary group at UT Knoxville, has been accepted into the Solar Decathlon 2011, a Department of Energy event that challenges students to design and build a functioning, energy-efficient, solar-powered house. This is the first time a UT team will compete in the Solar Decathlon.
