The UT Symphony Orchestra is poised to present the academic premiere of Knoxville: Summer of 2015, a musical sequel to Samuel Barber’s famous Knoxville: Summer of 1915, which featured lyrics borrowed from James Agee’s poem of a similar name. The concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. October 30 at the Tennessee Theater.
The UT Symphony Orchestra will partner with the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra for a concert on Sunday, October 27. This is the second concert of the UT Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-14 season, Old Friends, New Beginnings. The 7:30 p.m. performance will be in the Alumni Memorial Building Cox Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
Calling all music lovers. The UT Symphony Orchestra is inviting the community to a pre-concert lecture Saturday on Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” one of the great symphonic works of the Romantic period. A three-part concert will follow the lecture.
