Chancellor Beverly Davenport today announced the appointment of Chip Bryant as the university’s vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs. Bryant has served as interim vice chancellor since August 2016.
Commodities for Communities is this week’s featured Partnership That Makes a Difference. The partnership allows farmers to support the university by gifting portions of their crop to the UT Foundation.
Miller Energy Resources Inc., a high-growth oil and natural gas exploration, production, and drilling company headquartered in Knoxville has partnered with UT’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences to support a graduate fellowship in petroleum geology. The Miller Energy Fellowship is unique in terms of industrial support commonly provided by a fellowship.
The UT Foundation has recognized several Knoxville-area employees with its annual award for outstanding work in support of the foundation’s mission. They were honored at a board meeting held in October.
Last year was a record fundraising year for UT Knoxville with more than 32,700 alumni and friends contributing more than $104.7 million. The total was up $7.6 million over 2010-2011.Such private support is essential to the University of Tennessee’s goal of becoming a Top 25 public research university.
