Staff Spotlight: David Elliott, Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management

Most football fans who come to Neyland Stadium probably do not worry if the concession stands have enough ice, but that is the kind of detail that David Elliott and his staff think about on game day. Elliott is the UT assistant athletic director for event management. He oversees game day logistics of men’s and women’s athletic events. Elliott and the event staff work year-round to coordinate travel accommodations, staffing, tickets and other logistics associated with hosting more than 100,000 fans on football Saturday.

Help UT Baseball Raise Funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

For the third consecutive year, the UT baseball team will help raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and participate in the Light the Night Walk on the UT campus on Oct. 29. The Volunteers have exceeded their fundraising goals each of the last two years, raising almost $15,000 in the process. Help the baseball team reach this year’s goal.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, welcomes fans to campus Saturday for the Volunteers’ game against the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:21 p.m. EDT. Neyland Stadium gates will open at 10:15 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN’s SEC Sports Network. The university would like to remind visitors to campus about stadium policies and game day logistics.

UT Knoxville welcomes fans to campus Saturday for the Volunteers’ game against Auburn University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. EDT. Neyland Stadium gates open at 5:45 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. The university would like to remind visitors to campus about stadium policies and game day logistics.

UT Athletics Gives $10.35 Million to Support Academics

UT Men’s Athletic Director Mike Hamilton and UT Women’s Athletic Director Joan Cronan presented a check to UT Interim President Jan Simek, UT Knoxville Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek, Provost Susan Martin and Dean of Libraries Barbera Dewey for $10.35 million during last Saturday’s football game between Tennessee and Western Kentucky University.

UT Athletics Pledges Additional $1 Million per Year Support of Academics

The University of Tennessee announced Tuesday that the athletics department will be providing an additional $1 million of support to academics to the UT Knoxville campus each year beginning in 2009-10. The commitment will provide an additional $15 million to the Knoxville campus over the next 15 years.
