If a tornado was headed for our campus, do you know what to do? Where would you go? This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week and we’re sharing some important information about tornado safety. On Thursday, we are conducting a tornado awareness drill using the UT Alert text messaging and e-mail system.
Effective campus response to an emergency depends on being prepared. Just like playing a musical instrument or sport, prior knowledge and practice make a difference in performance. Drills are important to ensure effective response in high-stress situations.
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus and the UT Athletics Department are teaming up to show their Volunteer spirit by helping Tennessee counties affected by the recent storms. From 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, UT students and staff will be at Regal Soccer Stadium to collect items from the community to aid the residents of Bradley, Greene, Hamilton, Washington, Bledsoe, Cocke, Johnson, McMinn, Monroe and Rhea counties.
UT Knoxville and UT Athletics will team up May 10 to help residents of the East Tennessee counties that suffered massive damage during the recent severe weather.
