The Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature at UT Knoxville is holding a lecture and book signing by award-winning children’s author Wendelin Van Draanen on November 15. Van Draanen will discuss her book “The Running Dream,” which tells the story of a high school track star who loses a leg in a tragic accident.

What makes a children’s book excellent? This is one of the topics that educators and child development experts will discuss at a one-day conference on April 2 in Knoxville. The conference will be held at Hardin Valley Academy and is sponsored by the Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature (CCYAL) at UT and by the Knox County Public Library.
Acclaimed children’s author Deborah Ellis, known for her books on humanitarian and social justice issues, will visit UT Knoxville on April 5 for a lecture and book signing.

UT alumnus Chris Grabenstein, an acclaimed writer of adult and children’s books, will visit UT Knoxville on Oct. 1 for a lecture and book signing. The event, sponsored by the Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, will be at 7 p.m. in the Frank H. McClung Museum auditorium. The UT Office of Alumni Affairs will sponsor a short reception during the book signing after the lecture.
