UT, Tennessee Press Association Announce 2014 Newspaper Contest Winners

Newspaper writers, editors, designers, and publishers won top awards today in the Tennessee Press Association’s 2014 newspaper contest, cosponsored by the University of Tennessee. The Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Jackson Sun, Elizabethton Star, the LaFollette Press, and The Erwin Record won the top general excellence awards at the association’s luncheon ceremonies held in Nashville. General excellence honors are based on total points accumulated for awards in five circulation categories.

Newspaper writers, editors, designers, and publishers won top awards today in the Tennessee Press Association’s 2013 newspaper contest, co-sponsored by UT. The Tennessean (Nashville), The Jackson Sun, the Elizabethton Star, the Manchester Times, the Standard Banner (Jefferson City), and the Herald and Tribune (Jonesborough) won the top general excellence awards at the association’s awards luncheon held in Nashville.

Howard, Knight to Enter TN Newspaper Hall of Fame

J. Zollie Howard, an award-winning editor, and Richard F. Knight, a long-time newspaper publisher, have been selected for posthumous induction into the Tennessee Newspaper Hall of Fame November 4. Howard and Knight will join fifty-three other journalists and newspaper executives in the hall of fame, co-sponsored by the Tennessee Press Association and the University of Tennessee.
