Team Heads to New Jersey to Help with Super Bowl XLVIII

A group of UT students, a faculty member, and an alumna will head to East Rutherford, New Jersey, next week to work behind the scenes at Super Bowl XLVIII, one of the largest one-day mega-sporting events in the world. This year’s game, on February 2, will feature the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

Inky Johnson to Speak at Fundraiser for Students Working Super Bowl

Former Vol football player Inky Johnson will share the story of his career-ending injury and his inspirational message of perseverance next month during a fundraiser for UT students going to work at Super Bowl XLVIII in February. Johnson will appear at the 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, event, which will be held in the Haslam II Business Building. Tickets are $40, and the fundraiser will include a three-course dinner and silent auction.

UT Students to Gain Work Experience at Super Bowl XLVI

A group of UT Knoxville students and one faculty member will help prepare special events and conduct other behind-the-scenes work at this year’s NFL Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana. TEAM UT, a mix of undergraduate and graduate students, will work directly with the Indianapolis Host Super Bowl XLVI Committee for the February 5 event.

Governor’s Chair Discusses Super Bowl Power Surge

On Super Bowl Sunday, when over 100 million viewers take a commercial break to open the refrigerator, put something in the microwave or use the bathroom, they will probably contribute to a surge in the nation’s power grid. Last week, UT Governor’s Chair Yilu Liu described how the university is working to learn how to control the power grid.
