A group of UT students, a faculty member, and an alumna will head to East Rutherford, New Jersey, next week to work behind the scenes at Super Bowl XLVIII, one of the largest one-day mega-sporting events in the world. Former Vol football player Inky Johnson will share the story of his career-ending injury and his inspirational message of perseverance next month during a fundraiser for UT students going to work at Super Bowl XLVIII in February. Johnson will appear at the 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, event, which will be held in the Haslam II Business Building. Tickets are $40, and the fundraiser will include a three-course dinner and silent auction.
A group of UT Knoxville students and one faculty member will help prepare special events and conduct other behind-the-scenes work at this year’s NFL Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana. TEAM UT, a mix of undergraduate and graduate students, will work directly with the Indianapolis Host Super Bowl XLVI Committee for the February 5 event.
On Super Bowl Sunday, when over 100 million viewers take a commercial break to open the refrigerator, put something in the microwave or use the bathroom, they will probably contribute to a surge in the nation’s power grid. Last week, UT Governor’s Chair Yilu Liu described how the university is working to learn how to control the power grid.
