Each year, more than six hundred people from more than thirty-five states and beyond descend on the Great Smoky Mountains as flowers bloom in almost every hue to explore plant and animal life during the annual Wildflower Pilgrimage. The event is sponsored, in part, by several campus departments.

UT’s Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage has been honored with the Tennessee Native Plant Society Conservation Award, which is given annually to a person who has contributed significantly to the preservation and public education of the state’s diverse habitats. This is the first year an organization has received the award.
