UT Staff Member Honored by Tennessee Science Olympiad Board of Directors

Rai-Lynne Broach Alexander, an administrative assistant in the Governor’s School for the Sciences and Special Programs office, has been honored by the Tennessee Science Olympiad Board of Directors with the 2011 Service Award. Alexander was honored for her contributions to the Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament.

Students Exercise Mind in Science Olympiad

Kelly Nicholas, a senior at Oak Ridge High School who has earned gold in her past two Science Olympiad events, will take on three categories this year: astronomy, fossils and experimental design. Thirty-six middle and high school teams from across the state will compete in the Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament on Saturday April 2 hosted by UT Knoxville.

Winners Announced in State Science Olympiad at UT Knoxville

Teams from Knoxville and Nashville took top honors at this year’s Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament. Thirty-six middle and high school teams from across the state competed in the event held on March 27 at UT Knoxville to determine the state’s pre-eminent science scholars. Students from Bearden Middle School in Knoxville won the middle school division. Students from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville won the high school division.
