School of Interior Design Changes Name to School of Interior Architecture

Students in UT’s School of Interior Architecture construct exterior and interior models and create complex interior designs to repurpose a local century-old structure.

The School of Interior Design has changed its name to the School of Interior Architecture to reflect its educational intent and scope of work. The name change clarifies the school’s connection with its counterparts in the College of Architecture and Design—the School of Architecture and the School of Landscape Architecture.

Ryann Aoukar, associate professor in the interior design program, uses a 3D printer to develop functional prototypes of his designs. This eliminates manufacturing middlemen and potential problems with production.

Interior Design Student Projects Receive Regional, National Recognition

Projects created by UT design students won second and third place at a recent regional design competition. The students participated in the Interior Design Educators Council Regional Competition. Their work advanced to the national conference and was recognized as two of the top fifteen projects out of 130 entries from across the country.
