John Zomchick has been named vice provost for faculty affairs. The executive associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of English, he will take over for Sarah Gardial, who leaves July 1 to become the dean of the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Zomchick will oversee the faculty promotion and tenure process and the recruiting, retaining, and training initiatives for faculty.

The Center for Educational Leadership is recognizing five individuals for contributing significantly to education through innovative work, leadership, learning, and service. The Prometheus Leadership Medal recipients are forensic anthropologist William Bass, vice provost Sarah Gardial, architect Hansjörg Göritz, President Emeritus Joe Johnson, and Lady Vols Head Coach Emeritus Pat Summitt.

Sarah Gardial, vice provost for faculty affairs, invites faculty to the grand opening of the Faculty Pub at Bridgeview Grill. The pub will operate every Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the remainder of the semester. The aim of the Faculty Pub is to provide a relaxed environment for faculty and administrators to gather.
