UT Launches Smart Communities Initiative with Cleveland, Tennessee

The city of Cleveland, Tennessee, has been chosen as the first partner city for UT’s new service-learning program, the Smart Communities Initiative. The partnership begins this fall. The goals of the SCI are to help students gain real-world experience and make valuable contacts in the community. It is a component of UT’s new Quality Enhancement Plan, which in turn is an important part of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Colleges reaccreditation process.

Help Develop New Quality Enhancement Plan

The university has started developing its new Quality Enhancement Plan, an important part of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools reaccreditation process. The QEP team has developed five potential topics. Feedback from the campus community will help shape one of these topics into our new QEP.

Call for Nominations for Chancellor’s Ready for the World Citation

In 2005, UT submitted a Quality Enhancement Plan for SACS reaccreditation that has since become known on campus as the Ready for the World program. Each year the Office of the Chancellor recognizes a faculty member who has worked in exceptional ways — for instance, through curriculum infusion projects or extended study abroad programs — to enhance intercultural and international awareness among undergraduates.
