Nominations Call for Ready for the World Citation Award

Nominations are now being accepted for faculty, staff, and students who have dedicated time and energy toward enhancing intercultural and international awareness among undergraduate students. The Ready for the World Citation Award will be presented at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet later in the semester.

UT Students Celebrate Many Different Holiday Traditions

The holiday season is an exciting time, as the semester winds down and everyone begins to think about family get-togethers. At the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, students come from a variety of places and backgrounds—which means they have been, or will be, celebrating in many different ways this season. Last Week to Submit Items for Ready for the World Spring Passport

Time is winding down to submit your events, activities, speakers, and programs to be included in the Ready for the World Passport for the spring semester of the 2011–2012 academic year. Faculty, staff, and students are urged to use an electronic form to quickly and easily provide information about events related to the international and intercultural initiative.

UT Ready for the World Café Sets Sail for Southern Italy

Ready for the World Café diners won’t leave Knoxville, but they may think they’ve been transported to a café on the Mediterranean on Tuesday, November 22, as they enjoy a four-course Southern Italian meal. Lunch, which will consist of intermezzo, or small appetizer, salad, entrée, and dessert, will be served from noon to 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance.

UT’s Work with Refugees Being Highlighted in National Competition

A UT Knoxville effort to help refugees from Burundi adjust to living in Knoxville is being showcased this week as one of the top higher education and community engagement projects in the nation. The project is one of four initiatives competing for the 2011 C. Peter Magrath University Community Engagement Award.

UT’s “Do Deutsch!” Events Continue October 10-14

“Do Deutsch!,” this year’s October celebration of all things German, continues at UT Knoxville with “Do Deutsch!” Week, October 10-14. Starting in late August, a series of creativity contests were held on campus relating to the theme “German(y) in Your Life.” Each entry was to explore an element of Germany, such as its culture, its language, or its influence on America.
