Twenty-five years ago Lynn Champion, director of communications for the College of Arts and Sciences, founded a lecture series before home football games featuring talks by faculty from the college. From 1989 through 2014, Champion organized and staffed the Pregame Showcase, never missing a lecture.

Jon Shefner, head of the Department of Sociology, will present “Making the Cuts: Austerity Policies and Their Social Implications,” explaining the effects of spending cuts, tax hikes, and other measures governments use during adverse economic conditions.
