Answers to Questions about UT’s Safety Notices Regarding Reports of Sexual Assault

What are Safety Notices? The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires the university to alert the campus community to certain crimes in a timely manner to aid in the prevention of similar crimes. The Clery Act calls these alerts “timely warnings.” The university calls these alerts “Safety Notices.”

Office of New Student and Family Programs

IIn support of becoming a Top 25 university, the Division of Student Life is combining the offices of the Parents Association and Student Orientation to create one office to serve students and their families. The Office of New Student and Family Programs will align goals related to ensuring student transitions to UT as well as parental involvement.

Family Weekend Kicks off Friday

Parents and families of UT Knoxville students will descend on the campus this weekend for Fall Family Weekend, hosted by the Parents Association. Highlights of the weekend include the fourth annual Family Weekend Silent Auction, the Big Orange Tailgate, and a Sunday brunch. Programming on Friday night provided by Student Activities and the Parents Association include the Fall Fest Street Fair and Ben Rector Concert.

UT Knoxville Welcomes 600 Parents, Others for Winter Family Weekend

More than 600 parents and family members of UT students are expected in Knoxville this weekend for the Parents Association’s annual Winter Family Weekend. Parents Association members and their students will cheer on the Vols and Lady Vols in a pair of basketball games, as well as enjoying other attractions across the city.

WBIR: UT gameday crowd produces lots of trash that won’t end up in landfill

The UT Parents Association’s annual Big Orange Tailgate on Saturday was a zero-waste event, and WBIR-TV was on hand to cover what was being done with the plastic bottles, aluminum cans, plates, food, and utensils. UT Knoxville to Welcome 2,000 Parents, Others for Family Weekend Sept. 25-27

The UT Knoxville Parents Association is expecting more than 2,000 parents and family members of UT students to attend its annual Family Weekend Sept. 25 – 27. Highlights of Family Weekend include entertainment in the UC Down Under, tours of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy and James A. Haslam II Business Building, as well as a historical tour of the campus. The deadline for registering for Family Weekend events is Friday, Sept. 11.
