Students Receive Prestigious Boren Scholarships to Study Abroad

Seniors Lucille Greer and Philip Baites have received prestigious Boren Scholarships that will allow them to spend the next year studying abroad. Greer will travel to Jordan to study Arabic and international politics; Baites will travel to Morocco to study Arabic and various French courses.

Recent Grad Miranda Gottlieb Named a Schwarzman Scholar

Miranda Gottlieb, who graduated from UT last spring, has been named to the second class of Schwarzman Scholars, a highly competitive program that offers selected students the opportunity to earn a master’s degree in China. She is the first UT student to be selected for the program, which launched in 2015.

Dasvidanya: Graduate Heads to Russia to Teach English

After graduating from UT, Desiree Dube will say dasvidanya—goodbye—to America for a while. Dube, from Clarksville, Tennessee, completed her degree in history and Russian studies and is heading to Russia on a Fulbright scholarship. She will spend the 2016–17 academic year teaching English and learning all she can about Russian culture.
