UT’s Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships has made some changes to better serve the growing number of students interested in applying for major awards. In an effort to increase visibility and be more accessible, ONSF—which has its main office in the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy—now has a satellite office in Hodges Library.

At the campus’s annual Honors Banquet last week, Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek celebrated faculty, staff, and students for their accomplishments throughout the past academic year. Suzanne Lenhart, a mathematics professor and Chancellor’s Professor, was recognized for her excellence in academic outreach. Michael Handelsman, director of global studies, received the Ready for the World Award.
Students from ten different countries will talk about the political, economic, and social issues affecting their nations at a conference aimed at bringing a global awareness to the UT campus. The conference will be held on November 17 at the Baker Center and is free and open to the public. The Ready for the World Committee and the College of Social Work are hosting the conference.
Five current students or recent graduates from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, have received grants from the Fulbright US Student Program to work and study abroad. This is the largest number of student Fulbright winners that UT Knoxville has had in at least twenty years.
