Knoxville Author James Agee the Focus of Season’s Final Pregame Showcase

Michael Lofaro, professor of English, will lead this week’s College of Arts and Sciences Pregame Faculty Showcase. His presentation, “James Agee at 100: A Centennial Celebration,” is part of the month long celebration, which has included lectures, concerts and a museum exhibit about the prolific author and his work.

UT’s James Agee Celebration Continues With Exhibits, Lectures, Film Screenings

The James Agee Centennial Celebration, a monthlong series of events marking the 100th birthday of the Knoxville native and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, screenwriter, journalist, author and poet, continues this weekend with exhibits, lectures and film screenings that explore the connections between Agee, photojournalist Walker Evans and former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.

UT Knoxville’s James Agee Celebration Continues Sunday with ‘Afternoon in Agee Park’

The James Agee Centennial Celebration, a monthlong series of events marking the 100th birthday of the Knoxville native and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, screenwriter, journalist, author and poet, continues this weekend with an outdoor reading of selected Agee works in James Agee Park. “An Afternoon in Agee Park” is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the park at the corner of James Agee Street and Laurel Avenue, and is free and open to the public.

Film Festival Highlights First Weekend of UT’s James Agee Celebration

The James Agee Centennial Celebration, a monthlong series of events marking the 100th birthday of the Knoxville native and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, screenwriter, journalist, author and poet, kicks off this weekend with the James Agee Film Festival, Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25. The film series is presented by the College of Arts and Sciences, John C. Hodges Better English Fund, the Haines-Morris Endowment, the Knox County Public Library and the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound.

UT to Hold Month-long Celebration of James Agee Beginning Oct. 23

UT Knoxville will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of James Agee, the Knoxville native and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, screenwriter, journalist, author and poet, with four weekends of events, including a film festival, lectures, exhibitions and a concert and picnic. The James Agee Centennial Celebration begins Friday, Oct. 23, and wraps up on Sunday, Nov. 22.
