Enrollment Period for Health, Dental, and Other Insurance Programs

The annual enrollment period for the state of Tennessee’s health, dental, vision, basic and term life, long-term care, long-term disability, and optional special accident programs begins today. All changes must be made online by November 1. During open enrollment, employees have the opportunity to change, enroll in, or cancel coverage options for calendar year 2013.

Training Materials Available to Help Departments E-Verify

Human Resources has developed websites and training documents to assist departments in complying with E-Verify requirements. The requirement went into effect on January 1. E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows an employer, using information reported on an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States.

Berryman Named Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources

Dan Berryman has been named the new assistant vice chancellor for human resources. He will begin on September 17. He will advise campus leaders on employee development and performance, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other HR areas. Berryman comes to UT from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, where he was assistant vice president of human resources.

Applying for and filling jobs are easier and more efficient than ever with UT Jobs—an online database integrating all staff openings across the university. The new system, launched in January, streamlines and automates many job search, application, and hiring processes, allowing UT to better recruit and retain talented employees.

Employee Engagement Survey Helps Identify Campus Needs

How do we make UT an even better place to work? Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek posed the question during overview sessions for the 2011 Employee Engagement Survey held on Tuesday. Last spring, 43 percent of the Knoxville campus faculty and exempt staff responded to the survey. In the fall, 57 percent of all non-exempt employees participated. The survey asked about job satisfaction, work culture, leadership, and professional development, among other topics.

Faculty, Staff Invited to Discuss Employee Engagement Survey Results

The results of the system-wide employment engagement survey are in and faculty and staff are invited to forums this week and next week to learn more about the findings. The results shared will be specific to the groups invited to the different sessions taking place on May 2, May 7, and May 8.

Sick Leave Bank Enrollment Begins April 1

The open enrollment period for the Sick Leave Bank begins April 1 and ends on June 30. The Sick Leave Bank provides members who are experiencing serious illnesses or injuries an opportunity to request additional paid leave from the bank after exhausting all accrued personal leave.

Register Now for Life Planning Seminar

Human Resources and the Benefits and Retirement offices are hosting a two-day Life Planning Seminar on April 11 and 12. Topics will include retiree health insurance, deferred compensation, financial planning, and more. Employees can pick which sessions they attend. All sessions are free, though pre-registration is required.

It’s Open Enrollment Season for UT Health, Dental and Flexible Benefits

By now you should have received all the information you need to make decisions for you and your family about UT’s health, dental, and flexible benefit plans for next year. The annual enrollment transfer period for UT’s health insurance program is October 1 through November 1. Open enrollment for UT’s Flexible Benefits Plan is open until November 30.
