On Fridays this July, the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture invites the community to join the museum for “A Month of Mindfulness.” Each hour-long session will allow participants to step out of the heat and hustle of summer and into the museum for an hour of guided meditation, lecture, and yoga practice.

The Knoxville News Sentinel highlighted the Frank H. McClung Museum’s recent accreditation renewal in this story. Of the 160-plus museums statewide, McClung is one of only thirteen that are accredited. The recognition also puts it in the top four percent of museums nationwide.
A gathering of friends will take place at the Frank H. McClung Museum at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 6, in honor of curator Elaine Altman Evans who died this spring. The museum’s Egyptian gallery will be named in her honor. Altman died March 17. She joined the McClung Museum in 1971 and was curator for 41 years.
