Chancellor Cheek Invites Faculty and Staff to Forum

On Wednesday, May 4, Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek will host an open forum for faculty and staff. UT’s new fiscal year starts in July, and Chancellor Cheek will give an update on the university’s budget and plans that have already been put in place to offset the decreased state funding. Much of the time will be used for questions and answers about the budget and other topics employees would like to discuss.

UT Faculty Invited to Fall Meeting

All UT Knoxville faculty members are invited to attend the second annual Fall Faculty Meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, in Room 402 of the Haslam Business Building. Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek will review some of the major achievements of the past year and talk about significant campus initiatives now under way.

Join the University Faculty Club

In March 2007 the University of Tennessee Faculty Club moved from its longtime campus location to the well-appointed quarters of Club LeConte, at the top of the First Tennessee Bank tower. Since then members of the University Club at Club LeConte have enjoyed hundreds of opportunities to mix and mingle. The club provides Sunday Brunch, breakfast, lunch and dinner, a monthly meet and greet cocktail party and many other opportunities for faculty and staff to enjoy each others’ company and build lasting relationships.

Faculty Appreciation Week is being planned for Feb. 17-23. In preparation, we are collecting stories about great UT faculty members.

11 UT Knoxville Faculty Named AAAS Fellows; More Than Any Southern School

UT Knoxville has more new fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science than any other university in the South. AAAS has named 11 UT Knoxville faculty members to the 2010 class of fellows. In addition to once again besting all other regional universities, UT Knoxville has the second most new AAAS Fellows nationally, tied with Cornell University.
