Anne D. Smith has been named head of the Department of Management at the Haslam College of Business. She succeeds Terry Leap, who served as head of the department for four and a half years.

Nastaran Simarasl, a UT management doctoral candidate, is one of three finalists in the prestigious Global Development Awards and Medals Competition. The competition is sponsored by the Global Development Network, an international organization funded by the Japanese government.
Debbie Mackey, senior lecturer of management, has been selected as the 2014 National Faculty Advisor of the Year by the Society for Human Resource Management. Mackey was selected from more than sixty nominees nationwide. She is the first person from UT to win this award since its inception in 1997.
Students in the UT Management Society and faculty and staff in the Department of Management are supporting Mobile Meals in a big way this holiday season. The student organization raised $3,000 and the department contributed another $600, all of which will fund 1,058 meals for seniors in the community.

M. Lane Morris has been appointed the Skinner Professor in Management. The professorship was made possible by an estate gift from the late Sarah E. Skinner of Charlotte, North Carolina. Morris is a professor in the Department of Management and has served as a UT faculty member for twenty years. He is director of the Global Leadership Scholars undergraduate honors program in the College of Business Administration.
