UT Students Rank in Top 5 Percent in Nation for Passing 2012 CPA Exam

UT students rank in the top 5 percent nationally for their passage rates on the Certified Public Accountant exam, according to recently released numbers. UT students ranked thirty-seventh out of 781 across all national programs, according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, which recently reported its 2012 CPA examination passage rates for all universities across the United States.

Renda Burkhart, 1976 alum of the UT College of Business Administration, has earned the 2012 Distinguished Accounting Alum Award from the college’s Department of Accounting and Information Management. Burkhart is the founder and president of Burkhart and Company, P.C., an accounting firm that offers financial, accounting, and tax consulting and compliance services to entrepreneurs and individuals.

Accounting Professor to Assist US Treasury with Implementation of JOBS Act

United States Treasury officials have invited accounting professor Joe Carcello to join a conversation tomorrow about how best to implement the Jumpstart Our Business Startups, or JOBS Act. Carcello will participate in a roundtable discussion with senior officials from the Treasury and the National Economic Council.

UT Professor Testifies Before Congress about Financial Regulatory Initiatives

A UT Knoxville accounting professor testified before US Congress last week about regulatory initiatives being considered by several federal agencies and corporations. Joseph Carcello appeared before the Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises subcommittee of the Financial Services Committee in the United States House of Representatives.
